PFEIL 05 – Programme for Research and Development of the Ministry of Life
The research programme PFEIL 05 is intended to bundle the Ministry’s research activities by topics and to focus their efforts accordingly, to perform them efficiently through efforts to compensate limited (financial and staff) resources by enhanced interdisciplinary work, co-operation and controlling, and to make good use of them in ensuring the quality of life for people.
Scope of application: The PFEIL 05 programme covers the entire research work performed under contract according to the Austrian Research Organisation Act (Federal Law Gazette 341/81, as applicable) and the research institutes affiliated to the BMLFUW as well as to active research activities conducted by UBA GesmbH.Implementation
PFEIL 05 provides the framework for R&D performed by the BMLFUW’s own research agencies and external research institutes. It serves as a decision-making basis for the awarding of contracts, for public tenders, initiatives, and cooperative work related to the BMLFUW’s F&D activities.
Corresponding to the 4 strategy areas of the Ministry PFEIL 05 is organised along 31 topics and the associated technical fields.
Research under contract
In this field R&D deals with the demand, preparation and implementation of the political objectives of the four strategy areas and initiates cooperations of the different departments and specialised divisions. To be able to obtain a value added, Pfeil 05 counts increasingly on the formation of clusters, tendering and networks with other programmes.
Time frame
Pfeil 05 covers the period 2002 – 2005 with two evaluations – a mid-way evaluation and a second one after the programme has been completed. The results of the first evaluation are to be taken account of in the preparation work for PFEIL 10.
