Rural development

The package of subsidy measures summarized under the heading "Rural Development" is of exceptional significance in Austria. They include the agri-environmental programme, compensatory supplements, and many other measures for agriculture, forestry, and related areas. EU policy has made such rural development subsidies the second pillar of the Common Agricultural Policy.
